The nature trail starts right in front of the Glančnik exhibition mine and museum, which houses a collection of minerals, rocks and fossils. The 1.8 km long trail leads through the village of Polena across the main road and runs along the bank of the Meža River to the northern side of the center of Mežica. The trail has educational information points and numerous resting places.
The first info point is located at the Polena site, which is presented as the former operating center of the mine. Other points are at the dam "Pustnikov jez", where the river Meža is shown as a source of energy and as a habitat, at the Volkshaus, at the Villa Barget and next to the elementary school in the center of Mežica.
