Drau Raft

Drau Raft – A Relaxing Rafting Experience Through Two Countries
The Drau Raft offers a truly unique water-based experience in the Geopark Karawanken. Enjoy a leisurely journey downstream on the River Drau aboard a traditional wooden raft, gently floating along while crossing the border between Austria and Slovenia on the water. This relaxing and scenic raft trip combines the enjoyment of nature with cultural flair, bringing the Geopark’s unique cross-border character to life – ideal for anyone looking to experience the region away from trails and mountain peaks.

Visitors can choose between two rafts offering different routes.

The Cultural Raft accommodates up to 40 people and is moored at the leisure centre in Lavamünd, in close proximity to the reservoir arena.

Alternatively, the cross-border raft can carry up to 80 people and is anchored in Rabenstein (see directions).

Depending on the starting point, the routes either lead from Lavamünd to Unterdrauburg/Dravograd in Slovenia or towards Neuhaus, ending at the landing stage “Water Experience Trail”. There, guests have the opportunity to disembark and enjoy a walk along the Water Experience Trail, where the wild and romantic natural landscape invites exploration.
