The Karawanken-Karavanke UNESCO Global Geopark is a cross-border region of natural and cultural experiences with an outstanding geological heritage. Five Slovene and nine Austrian municipalities are bound together in an area of 1,067 km².
Discover the exciting underworld of Mt. Peca / Petzen by bike or kayak (Podzemlje Pece) or head for the colorful Obir stalactite caves. Find your inner peace on St. Hema Mountain / Hemmaberg, one of the oldest pilgrimage destinations in this part of Europe. Visit the GEO.DOM with its fascinating interactive exhibition of the Geopark on Mt. Peca / Petzen, get you adrenaline kick by biking down the Flow Country Trail, or take the zipline ‘from Europe to Africa’ over Črna na Koroškem. You can also experience an enjoyable ride crossing the border between Austria and Slovenia on the Draufloß timber raft.

Goals of the Geopark Karawanken-Karavanke
1. Preserving the geological and natural resources and the culture and cultural heritage of its members‘ territories;
2. Raising awarness, informing and educating about the Geopark Karawanken-Karavanke and promoting the Geopark;
3. The economic development of the Geopark, among others through sustainable tourism;
4. General cross-border cooperation, development and local political coordination and representation of the interests of the whole region in the context of a sustainable regional policy.
