The Karawanken Trail - Stage 11

Stage 11: : Pirkdorfersee - Hemmaberg - Gallizien

From Pirkdorf/Breška vas set off across flat fields, sand and asphalt roads past a centuries-old linden tree with a wayside shrine to Globasnitz/Globasnica. Continue through the centre of the town past the church, museum and Elberstein Castle, then follow the road to Hemmaberg/Gora sv. Heme and onwards through the forest to an archeological site, church, cave (spring) to reach the car park for visitors. From here the Karawanken-Karavanke Trail leads downwards in a southerly direction above the Petchnig farm, where it joins the Sagerberg Straße/Zagorska cesta road and at the Sager farm leaves the road and turns onto a footpath that leads to St. Andrä/Šentandraža church and from there to Altendorf/Stara vas and Tichoja/Tihoja to the Sonneggersee/Ženeško jezero lake. From the lake walk along the forest path and onwards along the asphalt road to Sielach/Sele, Miklauzhof/Miklavčevo. Cross the Vellach/Bela river on the B 82. Continue to Winkel/Kot, Dullach/Dul, Goritschach/Goriče and onwards to the Drabunaschach/Drabunaže road junction. If you are travelling from Goritschach/Goriče, continue straight over at the junction and after cca. 300 metres take the path through the forest. Cross the B 85 just before the turning for Glantschach/Glenče in a northerly direction and continue on the path to the Wildensteiner Moor in the foothills of Altberg/Stara gora to Gasthof Zenkl Guesthouse, 1.2 km before the Wildensteiner waterfall/Podkanjski slap.
