Stage 12: Gallizien - Klein Obir - Freibacher Stausee

From the Wildensteiner Waterfall/Podkanjski slap the road leads steeply uphill to a forest trail, which winds its way up to the Hoffmansalpe/Hofovška planina mountain pasture (path no. 608). The Karawanken–Karavanke Trail leads along several short cuts past the Hoffmannshütte/Hofovška koča mountain hut to the Jagoutzsattel/Jagovčeva planina mountain pasture, all the while in the shade of Hochobir/Ojstrc. From the pasture the trail leads in a northerly direction to Kleinobir/Mali Obir, where you are rewarded for the tiring ascent with wonderful views. Descend to the Jagoutzsattel/ Jagovčeva planina mountain pasture on path no. 625 (note: sections of the path are demanding in places), past the hunters' hut to the mountain cirque. Continue through a gravel deposit, which in places is overgrown with mountain pine, to reach a forest trail that leads from the valley and which you will cross numerous times during the descent. The trail winds its way up through the pleasant mixed forest, down through a gorge to reach the village of Zell Homölisch/Sele Homeliše and the Freibacher Stausee/Borovniško jezero lake.
