What is a Geopark?

Geopark Karawanken was approved in March 2013 as a member of the European (EGN) and Global (GGN) Geoparks Network under the umbrella of UNESCO and has been a UNESCO Global Geopark since November 2015.

Geopark schools and kindergartens

With the network of certified Geopark schools, kindergartens and educational centers, the cross-border Karavanke-Karavanke UNESCO Global Geopark has set itself the goal of making children even more aware of local geological, natural and cultural features and recognizing the associated potential.

Geopark annual topic

In 2011 we set the goal that schools and kindergartens from the Geopark area could also include geology, nature, culture and the Karavanke Geopark as a whole in their educational programs.
