Successful EMPATHS Project Workshop Held in the Karawanken Geopark
Another milestone in the Karawanken-Karavanke UNESCO Global Geopark
On Wednesday, 8 July 2026, we warmly invite you to join us for the official opening of the new Geopark Information Centre Bad Eisenkappel and its Open Day.
On 28 May 2026, the 2nd part of the educational workshop in the framework of the Geopark annual topic “Feel Nature and Protect Its Heart” took place in Kotlje.
This was the Drau Drava Run 2026: perfect weather, a record participation of 407 runners, outstanding athletic performances, and a shared joy of movement.
We had the privilege of presenting our cross-border UNESCO Global Geopark to a delegation from Slovakia and Austria.
The European Geoparks Week takes place every year at the end of May and beginning of June and is a central part of the year-round "GEOfestival" programme in the Karawanken-Karavanke UNESCO Global Geopark.
Our Karawanken-Karavanke Geopark was officially designated as a UNESCO Global Geopark for the third time at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris.
Today, we had the opportunity to present our Interreg Slovenia-Austria project, KaraMon, at the "Bridging Europe" event in Grado, organized by the Interreg Italy-Slovenia program.
On April 9, 2026, project partners Karawanken-Karavanke UNESCO Global Geopark and Geološki zavod Slovenije (GeoZS) met again with 22 local stakeholders to deepen their cooperation and build upon the results from the previous year.
From 23 to 26 March 2026, the Karawanken-Karavanke UNESCO Global Geopark hosted the Coordination Committee Meeting of the European Geoparks Network, within which the Danube GeoTour Plus Future Forum was successfully organised as the final strategic event of the Danube GeoTour Plus project, implemented under the INTERREG Danube Region Programme.
