»The HUMANITA Summit« - final conference

Between February 23rd and 25th, 2026, the final conference of the INTERREG Central Europe project took place in the capital of Croatia under the title “The HUMANITA Summit: From Visitor Impact to Nature Protection – Building a Human–Nature Harmony.”

The conference brought together all project partners, representatives of Croatia’s national parks, the Croatian Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning, and members of the wider public. The event focused on presenting the project’s key results, sharing good practices, and exchanging opinions and experiences with Croatian national parks and the public.

Project associate Urosh Grabner provided a brief presentation of the Karawanken UNESCO Global Geopark, as well as the project's main guidelines and results, for the national television broadcaster HTV – »Dobro jutro«.

The project represents significant added value for our Geopark in terms of activities and the experience gained in monitoring visitors, wildlife, and invasive alien plant species through a participatory or citizen science approach. This approach was specifically developed in the Geopark for this purpose.
