The second round of workshops for the INTERREG Alpine Space project WATERWISE has officially started. On April 9, 2026, project partners Karawanken-Karavanke UNESCO Global Geopark and Geološki zavod Slovenije (GeoZS) met again with 22 local stakeholders to deepen their cooperation and build upon the results from the previous year, during which local socio-economic and environmental values, as well as key challenges, were identified. The goal was to define a shared vision of a "business-as-usual" scenario.
With this second round of workshops, the focus has now shifted to testing and validating the newly developed toolbox. This ensures that socio-economic and environmental parameters are consistently dealt with and provide valuable and realistic insight, providing a starting point for discussions toward local resilient water resources management.
A second round of local workshops will be held in all pilot areas. At the end structured feedback from all locations will be used to update the toolbox, which will be used to provide vulnerability assessments at additional project sites.
