A Reason to Celebrate: Re-designation as a UNESCO Global Geopark!

We have a reason to celebrate!

Our Karawanken-Karavanke Geopark was officially designated as a UNESCO Global Geopark for the third time at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris.

Maximilian Gorke, the First Secretary of the Austrian Embassy in Paris and the Permanent Representation of Austria, accepted the certificate on behalf of our Geopark.

The intensive review of our development over the past 4 years was once again highly rated, allowing us to hold this prestigious UNESCO title for another 4 years and continue developing our Karawanken region in this spirit.

At the same time, 12 new UNESCO Global Geoparks from around the world were inducted today in Paris—a warm welcome to them!
