As part of the INTERREG Danube Region project Danube GeoTour Plus, we visited the Papuk UNESCO Global Geopark, where we gained insights into their approaches to involving minorities, youth, and older adults in the work of the Geopark. We were particularly impressed by the good examples of cooperation with vulnerable groups, which strengthen their role in the local community.
The exchange deepened our understanding of cultural participation and demonstrated how important the active involvement of different population groups is for the protection and communication of natural and cultural heritage.
The excursion was attended by dedicated representatives from various sectors — including the KOR-NET Koroška network structure supporting youth, the community of Carinthian Slovenes, senior organizations, and the Karawanken Geopark.
Many thanks to Papuk Geopark for their hospitality and the inspiring insight into their work!
