Projects of the Geopark Karawanken-Karavanke
The cross-border Karawanken-Karavanke UNESCO Global Geopark, a member of the European (EGN) and Global (GGN) Geoparks Network, was established within the framework of the project "Establishment of a cross-border Geopark between Mt. Petzen/Peca and Mt. Koschuta/Košuta ", implemented within the framework of the OP SI-AT 2007-2013 and co-financed by the European Union from the European Regional Development Fund. From the legal point of view, the Geopark operates as an European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation (EGTC Geopark Karawanken-Karavanke), whose founding members are the municipalities and associate members. Despite its relatively young existence, the Karawanken-Karavanke UNESCO Global Geopark has already successfully completed the following projects: the Crossborder ACTIVE 2020, the LEADER project "GEOPARKFORSCHERKIDS", the EUfutuR, NaKult and KaraWAT projects within the framework of the INTERREG V-A Slovenia-Austria Cooperation Programme 2014-2020, the Danube GeoTour project (Interreg Danube Transnational Programme 2014-2020) and the Ruritage project (Horizon 2020).
